This week we wanted to talk to you about the makeup kit must haves. If you’re just starting Uni or going into the industry these are some essentials you need in your kit.

SKIN CAREEEEEEE. This is by far the most important step. This determines how the finished makeup will look, the longevity of the makeup and it also makes your client feel good. The basic skin care routine should include cleanser, toner, moisturiser, and oil and the products you use can be adjusted to suit your clients skin type as well as alter the final result. Some great products to include in your kit are Welda skin food (a makeup artist’s favourite), Mac strobe cream which comes in a range of colours, a hydrating, mattifying or putty primer depending on what your client needs. Brands Milk and Elf are the current trending primers on TikTok! There are plenty of reviews posted out there to help you find the right one for your skin type. Nivea and simple also do affordable skin care for your cleanser, toner and moisturiser. Lastly let’s not forgot SPF. You can purchase cheap daily moisturisers that will contain SPF in them however if your looking for a highly rated one that’s a bit more on the pricey side there is the La Roche Posay sunscreen collection which has a large range to choose from; they also do lots of other skin care products if you are willing to spend more.

Next is something that we think is sooooo underrated. EYESHADOW PRIMER. Honestly, it’s one of the most over looked thing in your kit but when I tell you this will be changing your eyeshadow game I mean it. There are so many on the market and they make your eyeshadow stick for hours and hours and can help with the creases and durability. There are so many variations so research what one matches what style of makeup you do and get some in your kit.

Next let’s talk hair. If you’ve got a client with super fine thin hair and you are struggling to get that volume and height, try out some VOLUMIZING PRODUCTS honestly it’s an amazing life saver and can make the hair look thicker and fuller. Some products that we recommend for your kit are Got2Be root volumizing powder which is a great inexpensive addition to your kit.  Echo styling gel which comes in a variety for different hair types and styles. The Got2Be glued hair spray is brilliant and it’s smells really nice. Another Got2Be favourite is the 2 in 1 eyebrow gel and edges tube. It’s perfect for keeping those eyebrows in place and holding downs those baby hairs for you slick back hair girlies. Let’s not leave out the iconic original styler Denman brush which is perfect for detangling and styling.

Got2Be powder full, Boots- £5.50

For the SFX peeps we have a product just for you. If you’ve got a client with sensitive skin or they just want a little more protection against the products you’re using try out some BARRIER BALMS or creams which can create a thin layer between the skin and the prosthetic or body paint. This also helps prevent awful staining. Kryolan have a foam which is quite and easy and has been around for a while; however it’s is becoming increasingly popular for makeup brands so it’s worth having a look around at what’s affordable and has been given great feedback.

Pro shield barrier foam, Krylon- £9

Our last kit must have is EYELASHES. Whether they are natural to add a bit of length or crazy long for a creative face painting look we highly recommend getting a wide variety of lashes in your kit. I swear they change the entire vibe of the makeup, make it look more professional and is the perfect finishing touch to any makeup look. Don’t be afraid to add some coloured ones in there too! Most drugstores like boots and Superdrug and even supermarket sell these. However some online places to shop are Amazon and @feebeeamakeup on Instagram has recently brought out a stunning new range.

Feebeeamakeup.co.uk £12

There are so many incredible products and brands out there and some might work better on you then others, you’ve just got to experiment! Is there any products you have tried that you think we have missed? Please feel free to give us your recommendations!
