About Me

Being a part of gunk I have definitely explored different areas of makeup. However I would describe myself as someone who is always up for trying something new. I love being apart of a team and creating a look and seeing the final result come together.

My favourite looks to create are editorial looks this can range from something subtle to something extravagant.

I look forward to going further and creating a brand for myself.

Olivia’s creation for ‘Artificial’

Interview with Olivia

Beyond the prompt word ‘artificial’, what inspired you to create this makeup look?

Olivia: “My inspiration for my look was looking into the future and how future makeup can be perceived. To me artificial means fake or the use of technology like ai but i did not want this to relate to that I wanted to explore beyond that. So by using makeup in a completely different way to how it is usually done now I wanted to show the future.”

What products did you use to create your look?

Olivia: “I used kyrolan supracolour pallet, illamasqa foundation and Illamasqa powder.”

Would you do anything differently if you were given the chance to do this prompt again?

Olivia: “If I was given the prompt again I would maybe look into a different way to interpret the word however I am really pleased with how my look turned out and that the route I chose to take.”

Olivia: “The gunk prompts have helped me as an artist by helping me stem away from the makeup I would normally create, which is editorial/glam. It takes me outside of my comfort zone and allows me to expand my skills further as a makeup artist.”

How do you think GUNK and participating in prompts has helped you as an artist?

Olivia: “My favourite project I have worked on at uni was the makeup morgue module. I’m not very confident with hair and the module was based on wig work. However, this allowed me to really attempt something new and I really enjoyed it. It gave me a career path that I am interested in, I’m looking into working at the theatre as I found creating a head piece for a stage performance fun to do.”

Outside of GUNK, whats your favourite project that you’ve worked on?

Olivia: “In the next stage of my career I would want to focus on working within the fashion industry. This is a great passion of mine and I would love to travel with my work. So hopefully after university I would like to continue in this line of work and really establish a name for myself within the industry.”

Finally, what do you want to do more of moving forwards with your work in your final year at university and your career as an artist?

Congratulations to Olivia for her amazing work here at GUNK!
