Graduate Fashion Week

Hair and make-up students from Solent University worked behind the scenes, at both London and Graduate Fashion Week over a four day period from June 12th-15th, working from a set brief to create innovative and skilled editorial make-up and hair looks.

The students worked at The Truman Brewery located in East London’s creative hub and were sponsored by revolutionary high end make-up brand, MAC. They kicked off the week with working on a show at the University of East London, then moved on to work an additional eleven shows over the next three days.

One of GUNK’s Website Supervisors, Shana Creagh worked as a part of this team and recounted the week as “a dream come true”. Many of the students are aspiring to work in the fashion industry on events like this so this is phenomenal work experience and portfolio content for them, Shana praises this event for the networking opportunity it gave her and fellow student artists. Another team member, Olivia Andrews mentioned in a interview that time management skills were put to the test and Head makeup artist for the last day of the experience Rebecca Tong described it as `Crazy but fulfilling to do and I was so happy to be doing what I love making up all the lovely models`.

The actual fashion shows showcased “the best of university students across the UK” in fashion and textile degrees, where the students watched their artistry walk down the catwalk, an experience that was described by the students as “truly rewarding”.

Well done to the entire team on their incredible hard work including our talented lecturers/technical instructors; Charlotte Logue, Beth Kabuga and Melissa Clovey. As well as students, Adelina Loghin, Amy Keutenius, Annie Hughes, Ashleigh Rose Morton, Carys Burrows, Calum Kay, Emma Celine Schultz, Emma Vickers, Imogen Hackett, Jade Cooper, Lauren Roberts, Lily Rossiter, MaryCarmen Gonzalez Sanchez, Millie Rasmussen, Olivia Andrews, Rebecca Tong, Ruby Harvey, Shana Creagh, Sophie White and Vivian Jennelle Wong Brito.
