My name is Jessica Eagles. I specialise in creative hair design, avant-garde hair styling, wigs and body painting. I first found my passion in creative hair design and wigs 3 years ago, where I set a goal to start experimenting and exploring hair. I HATED HAIR. I remember in hair sessions at college I would get so frustrated that the hair wasn’t going to plan and I couldn’t even figure out the right way to put in a hair grip. It took me a lot of practicing, figuring out, and asking loads of questions to my tutors to feel confident in creating hair designs. I then discovered my passion for knotting 3 years ago, again in college.
It was something that I just understood, I loved it and I got it straight away. It was something I could sit for hours and do and I found it so calming to just put on a podcast and knot. I’ve always loved body painting, since I was 15 I remember coming downstairs as a pink alien or a green tree fairy and even though I probably looked crazy I just found so much joy in it.
For my future pathway I’m still not 100% certain what I want to do, which is okay. My original plan was to go into theatre or into avant-garde runway shows however over these past couple of months I’ve been looking into freelance specifically creating wigs for drag queen’s and performance. My favourite types of wigs are the ones where I don’t have to follow rules. Within my work its not uncommon to see hair used in weird ways or wigs made out of unconventional things. These are my favourite types of designs. 5 random facts about me: I have 3 guinea piggys, I’m a Gemini and both of my parents are Geminis too, my favourite colour is green, I’m originally from Bedford but I live in Southampton permanently, I love marmite.
I am Charlie Killen and I specialise in editorial makeup and hair. I enjoy creating makeup looks because I have always loved the art aspect of it. I love creating natural radiant skin and fine line work. Growing up, I always loved drawing and painting then when I was about 15, I discovered using makeup to create art on my face which at college, I got into body painting which I loved! I think my biggest uni achievement is learning how to French plait and even do cornrows!
After uni, my goal is to try to work on magazine shoots or fashion runways, but I also like the idea of working for TV and Film. I'm still struggling to find my specific style as I enjoy doing a range of things, but I am hoping once I complete my degree, going out into the industry with help me define who I am as an Artist.
Some personal facts about me are I am a stay-at-home student. I have a black cat named Bob (my dad chose his name) who follows me around. Whilst studying at Solent I work at Greggs on the side (no I don't get free sausage rolls but I do get a 50% discount). In my spare time, I like to go swimming which is all fun and games until you have to detangle thick wavy/ curly hair. Ending on a random fact about 3 years ago I had heart surgery because I had an extra electronic beat in my heart.
